This is going to be a big subject over the next few years. The change in demographics, as  as a lot of people retire and become elderly, is going to have a big impact on social services and the NHS.

The NHS needs cuts, that is clear. It needs changes to the way it works as the demand for services for the elderly increases.

Gordon Brown is trying to pretend that the NHS will not have cuts in services.  He is trying to get a political advantage over the Conservatives, who have a more realistic approach to the bankrupt, debt-ridden economy of the United Kingdom.

It would seem, in my view, that Brown thinks that the people who normally vote Labour are too stupid to know what is happening to the economy. I have even heard someone blaming Thatcher for the bankrupt state of the UK economy!!!

So Gordon Brown seem to expects that saying ‘the Conservatives will cut the NHS, we will not make cuts in the NHS’ is actually going to be believed by enough people to get him back into power!

So why has Gordon Brown invited consultants to come up with proposals for how savings could be made in the NHS? Or does he not equate the word ’savings’ with the word ‘cuts’ (after all they are spelt differently!)

These consultants, and others it appears, were given terms of reference so they knew what they were supposed to do. This means that their proposals to cut 10% from the NHS workforce over the next 10 years would have met their terms of reference and that is what the Brown wanted them to do!

If Brown is that surprised by their report then they have not done their job properly and should be fired without receiving payment!

Gordon Brown is saying that the Conservatives are the ‘party of cuts’ and implies that New Labour are not.  But the truth is  that New Labour policies have brought the UK to it’s financial knees and even Brown cannot keep the NHS safe from significant cuts that will affect us all!

International finance ministers are meeting in London today to find way to  curb excessive bank bonuses.

Gordon Brown has been the chancellor and then the Prime Minister for more than 12 years.

He turned the ‘Golden Inheritance’ of the Conservatives into a recession and left us with huge debts for the many years to come.

Why does he think that his opinion on financial matters is of any value? Except perhaps as a warning of what not to do!

The reason why we are under a continual threat of being bombed and having passenger jets blown up is that Blair, Brown and Bush went to war against Iraq and Afghanistan.

Gordon Brown is claiming that our troops are fighting in Afghanistan in order to stop the threat of terrorism in the UK.

He is right! But his actions in the first place are the reason why we now have to deal with this threat against us. The consequences of going to war against any country is that the people of that country will fight back!

What does Gordon Brown think that victory in the war in Afghanistan means. I don't remember ever hearing him define what he thinks that beating the taliban actually means.

I have heard Brown saying that his intention is to train the Afghan government troops to carry on the war against the taliban themselves. But this is not going to stop the attacks against the UK and UK interests around the world. It simply gets our soldiers out of Afghanistan.

Getting peace for the UK and the USA means that all extremists, mostly Islamic, are prepared to stop bombing us at home and abroad.

It is possible that there is no way of getting peace in the war against terrorism. Brown, Blair and Bush have opened Pandora's box. We cannot put the lid back on.

I think that the actions of these three leaders have cursed the world for a very long time. They will not go down in history in any other terms!

So New Labour think that they are being clever by cutting costs and not services

For example the NHS costs are people such as doctors, nurses, cleaners, laundry etc. and, of course, drugs, operations, intensive care beds, specialists etc.

These are the costs of the NHS. Every time the NHS provides a service to someone there is a cost involved.

So if New Labour cut costs then by definition they are not providing a service.

If New Labour cut the costs, then they are cutting the services!!!!!!!

The news today that leaked documents show that Brown was planning 'near' 10% cuts throughout government departs whilst attacking Cameron as 'Mr 10%' shows, in my view, a lack of integrity!

Being truthful is as much about the impression that one give. As I have said before, people can lie and tell the truth at the same time. It is simply a question of selecting the truths in order to give the wrong impression.

Brown can attack Cameron for being 'Mr 10%' and be planning 'near' 10% cuts himself. The words used are truthful but the impression given is false. To attack Cameron for doing, almost, exactly the same thing as Brown was planning to do is cynical and, in my view, lacking integrity.

I think that more and more people are realising that New Labour cannot be trusted and that they seem unable to actually govern the country in a way that looks after the interests of the people of the UK.

I get the distinct impression that they are only interested in looking after themselves!

If Ed Balls can simply cut £2 billion off the schools budget WITHOUT affecting:

  • the safety of the children,
  • the way that the schools are run
  • and the education that they receive

then the following question must be asked.

Mr. Balls. Why are you spending that £2 billion each year when you are now saying that it was not necessary.

This is our taxes you are apparently wasting!

Blaming the grammar schools for making kids feel bad if they fail to reach the level of education required to qualify for them really is a case of blaming the messenger!

The state schools fail to educate the kids and the grammar schools won't take them on as a result.

The problem has occurred before the kids apply to the grammar schools.

The problem has occurred because the state system is dumbed down to meet government targets.

But Labour have reduced the number of grammar schools, so many kids who would qualify fail to get a place because there simply are not enough places because of New Labour policies.

One thing seems to be  clear. Ed Balls obviously believes that grammar schools are better than state schools and that means that New Labour have failed to bring the state schools up to the the standard of grammar schools, despite all the money spent on the education system in the UK.

This is an admission of failure by the government minister responsible!

So Gordon Brown is ‘Statesman of the Year’

It explains a lot. This award is going to embarrass him. It would seem to show where his priorities are!

We have been through a massive recession, which Brown, as prime minister,  should have foreseen and prepared us for.

He has obviously been more focused on global events than he has been on looking after the UK. No wonder he didn't see the recession coming!

The UK is in recession, in deep financial trouble. It might show signs of coming out of recession now, but the UK now has such high debts that we all have to suffer tax increases and reduced services for years to come as a result.

Yet Gordon Brown was able to spend so much time on world events that he has got an award for it!

Brown cannot claim that he could do both jobs simply because of the deep financial mess that he has left us in. He has spent time working to save the world instead of providing full time leadership to save the UK, we have had a leader who has not been fully focused on the UK  through troubled financial times.

People are going to blame him, and New Labour, for abandoning the UK for his own personal ambitions.

Welsh Secretary Peter Hain has said 'Labour must expose the Tories'  and 'they had been given an easy ride by everybody'.

Of course they have had an easy ride! Labour have been so appalling in government over the last 12 years that anyone, even the Lib Dems  look very, very good compared to Gordon Brown and New Labour!

Tony Blair and Gordon Brown have taken us to war in Iraq and Afghanistan. There do not seem to have been any grounds for these wars. Now, of course, we are under continual threat by the people whom we attacked first!

If we hadn't been part of the invasion of Iraq and then participated in a war against the Afghan people then we would not have spent a fortune in war materials and dealing with our injured soldiers. Nor would we need all this enhanced security and  be continually defending ourselves from attacks by terrorists!

Oh I nearly forgot! Gordon Brown was chancellor and the prime minister and completely failed to regulate the financial industry and the banking industry. He appears to have completely missed the fact that our country was at risk from financial meltdown over the years before the meltdown actually happened!

I really don't understand how anyone could expect the person who put the UK finances in such dire straits to be capable of getting us out of trouble. And it is looking as though other countries are coming out of recession whilst we look forward to many years of high taxes, cuts in services and huge debts!

My message to the Labour party conference is 'be loyal to your leader and stick with him despite what he has put us through'. That we we can get rid of all of you at the next election!

Gordon Brown has proved on almost every measure that he has failed to govern the UK.
How can New Labour fight an election based on what Cameron 'might do' when Brown has proved without dispute that he unable to govern the UK and has put us into recession and given us years of high taxesand reduced services to pay back the debts!

How badly does a labour leader have to perform before the Labour hierarchy decide that he (or she) cannot do the job? If Brown was a managing director of a company he would have gone a long time ago!

It astounds me that there is even a discussion about Gordon Brown being capable of running the country for the next five years. It is not as though he was simply unlucky with events completely outside of his control taking place around him.

Brown inherited a fantastic economy from the Conservatives. The 'Golden Inheritance' allowed Blair and Brown a wonderful opportunity and they totally failed to take advantage of it!

One of Brown's early actions was to tax pension funds, so now most ordinary people will not be able to retire as expected, they will have to work for longer because their pension has been devalued.

Labour would point to new schools and new hospitals, but most of these would seem to have been built on borrowings - the PFI debt is huge and we still need to pay it back.  I can only assume that the PFI debt levels are kept hidden from the public to protect the Labour government!

The British rail expansion/ rebuild is also on borrowed money. These two debts, and some others, are not even included in the UK debt level figures!

So how much debt is the UK in? Redefining the UK debt levels to exclude some large debts would seem to indicate that we are allowed to know!

There is one thing that is quite amusing with New Labour's attempts to stay in power. They are continually claiming that Cameron would do worse running the UK than New Labour would.  I don't believe that anyonecould do worse that Blair and Brown have done over the last 12 years!
